Lydia Darragh
After the British occupied Philadelphia, they stationed soldiers in citizen's homes. The Darragh's home was one of them. On December 2, 1777, a conference was held at Lydia Darragh's house with top British officers and General William Howe finalized plans for an attack on Whitemarsh on the 4th. Lydia listened in and shared the information with the Commissary of Prisoners who passed it on to American headquarters and the attack was thwarted.
